Why is this world so selfish?
Why has everyone forgotten,
how to care for one-another?
It only takes two seconds,
to ask "are you alright?".
Two seconds to ask,
"Do you need any help?".
What do your two seconds cost,
what are your two seconds worth?
When it can save someone else,
minutes, hours, stress?
You're not going anywhere,
your time isn't being logged,
weighed, calculated and paid.
What are your two seconds worth?
Does that lady need help with her trolley?
You're going past anyway. Two seconds.
Does that elderly man need help with his bags?
It's not out of your way. Two seconds.
What do you get out of bundling past,
ignoring everyone,
ignoring the world.
Where's the sense of community?
Where's the sense of achievement?
And maybe, even if they didn't need your help,
you've made their day better,
because you stopped and took,
Two seconds,
to ask,
"Hello. Are you alright?"
